The biscuit made for the drink.

The Drinks Bakery began with a memory of Europe. In 1976, founder Andy Murray travelled across the continent with his family in a campervan, discovering a simple ritual along the way: wherever a good drink was poured, something thoughtful was served beside it. Years later, as wine, whisky, beer and cocktails became increasingly sophisticated, Andy wondered why the snacks accompanying them had been left behind.

That question became The Drinks Bakery — award-winning savoury biscuits created not merely to snack on, but carefully flavour-profiled to complement what is in your glass. Hand-baked in the Highlands of Scotland with natural ingredients, they bring the European aperitivo tradition to the modern drinks table. The brand later appeared on BBC's Dragons' Den, securing investment from Deborah Meaden and Peter Jones.

Aged Gouda & Red Onion

Generous aged Gouda meets sweet red onion in a deeply savoury biscuit with a rich, fruity character. The aged cheese brings intensity and umami while the onion rounds the edges with gentle sweetness — exactly the kind of layered flavour that earns its place beside a serious drink.

Serve it: at aperitivo or cocktail hour with wine, beer or spirits, or add it to a drinks tray with olives and charcuterie for an easy but considered welcome.

Lello note: A small thing that changes the table: not a cracker waiting for a topping, but a finished pairing in its own right.
