Basil brings an unmistakable sweetness and green aromatic lift to the simplest food. It belongs with ripe tomatoes and olive oil, folded through pasta, scattered over vegetables, stirred into soups, or used to finish eggs and roast chicken. This is the sort of ingredient reached for without thinking—and precisely the sort of ingredient that deserves to be beautifully kept.

The Vessel

The basil is presented in Lello’s dark violet apothecary glass: compact, weighty and intentionally handsome enough to remain beside the stove. The Lello flourish and the word BASIL are etched directly into the glass in the natural tone created by the etching process. There is no metallic ink, foil or paper label on the face of the vessel.
